Squarespace Takes on GoDaddy with New Domains Service

Slick website building service Squarespace is taking on the likes of GoDaddy and 123 Reg by offering both new and existing customers the chance to buy domains directly through their all-in-one solution, rather than relying on external sites.

Called Squarespace Domains, the new feature means all you have to do is head to https://www.squarespace.com/domains and browse through more than 200 top-level domains that will start at $20 per year, which works out at about £14. You can then go on to do all of the other stuff Squarespace has done so well up until now, like create a website or build an online store quickly and easily.

The brand is keen to shout about the fact that, unlike its competitors, its new Domains service will include WHOIS Privacy at no extra charge, an ad-free parking page and a same-rate guarantee for when you want to renew your URL. Both SSL certificates and even domain transferring are apparently on their way soon too at no extra cost.

Squarespace is clearly trying to stand out amidst competition from the likes of Wordpress and Wix by offering a one-stop-shop for website and online store building, as this news comes just a week after the company launched its Circle community for power users.
