Website Publishing Platform Squarespace Integrates E-Commerce Shipping Solution

Fully-hosted, all-in-one website platform Squarespace has integrated a web-based e-commerce shipping solution from ShipStation, allowing its e-commerce customers to ship physical goods to customers more efficiently.

Squarespace is among a handful of platforms like Wix, Yola and Weebly that provide an easy-to-use platform that combines easily customizable templates along with web hosting. This approach simplifies the web design and hosting experience, allowing customers with simple needs to deal with only one provider.

Over the past year, however, Squarespace has been integrating more advanced features into its platform. In February 2013, it introduced e-commerce support with its Squarespace Commerce service, that enables the sale of physical goods, digital goods, and services.

Introduced this week, ShipStation integration allows merchants to print shipping labels and automatically send shipping notifications with tracking numbers to their customers, further simplifying the experience for sellers.

“Our commerce customers told us that as they grow, one of their top challenges is managing the shipping process,” Squarespace CEO Anthony Casalena said in a statement. “We made the decision to integrate with ShipStation, as it is a best-in class service that will dramatically decrease the time and aggravation involved with shipping for our merchants.”

ShipStation helps online retailers organize, process, fulfill, and ship orders and supports importing from more than 40 shopping carts and marketplaces such as eBay, Amazon, Shopify, Magento, ChannelAdvisor, and now Squarespace.

The integration of order shipping onto this all-in-one platform shows a focus on a business’ typical needs and processes that would otherwise have to be delivered as a custom solution or continue as a tedious manual task. And as web applications are expected to control greater core business functions having a single platform integrating a customizable website, an e-commerce solution and shipping management simply makes sense for many businesses.
