And Now The Dude Will Sing You To Sleep

Who among us doesn't quietly aspire to be a little more Dude-like? Jeff Bridges wants to help your sleeping habits, and he's recorded a new album of trippy, hilarious, stuctureless songs to make that happen. The record, Jeff Bridges Sleep Tapes, is a cross-promotional effort with the digital platform Squarespace (Bridges will star in a Squarespace ad on Super Bowl Sunday).

"The world is filled with too many restless people in need of rest," Bridges writes on the project's homepage, "That's why I filled my sleeping tapes with intriguing sounds, noises and other things to help you get a good night's rest."

The 15-track album is available as a pay-what-you-wish digital download, a distribution method akin to Radiohead's 2007 release, In Rainbows, the back half of which may have also put you to sleep. Highlights include the overtly stoner-ish "Sleep. Dream Wakeup," as well as "See You at the Dreaming Tree," "A Glass of Water," "Ikea," "My Keys," and "Goodnight (We're All In This Together)." According to the website, 100 percent of retail sales will go to "No Kid Hungry" campaign, for which Bridges has been a prominent spokesman.

Sleep Tapes is also available on vinyl or cassette, in case you get tired of listening to your past bowling performances on your Walkman.
