A US web design company is to open its European headquarters in Dublin, creating 100 jobs in the process.
Squarespace, which runs an online publishing system that allows companies to create and maintain their websites, will open its first office outside of its New York HQ later this year.
The Dublin office will serve customers outside the US, with most staff working in customer care roles for the first six months or so. After that the company will look to expand the office here into more "business-oriented" roles.
Applicants will not need a second language for now but chief operating officer Jesse Hertzberg said the company planned to provide customer service to most of Europe in the coming months.
Announcing the investment, Taoiseach Enda Kenny said the Squarespace decision to open here was a "signal of Ireland's growing reputation as the internet capital of Europe".
"This means greater opportunities for our bright, highly skilled workforce, and the Government is working to attract further investment," he added.
Jobs Minister Richard Bruton, meanwhile, described the move as "great news for the city and the sector".
Squarespace boss Anthony Casalena said he had chosen Dublin over several competitor cities elsewhere in Europe.
The investment is being backed by the IDA. Squarespace has grown rapidly in recent years. Unlike other web design services, people using its platform don't need knowledge of computer code so it is much easier for anyone to build their own website. The company is especially focused on small firms, with more than 100,000 using the service in the US.
The technology allows businesses to have a website that appears much more professional and widespread than they could otherwise afford.
Meanwhile, Wayra is to partner with Enternships to connect young people via its online platform to internships in the Wayra Academy in Dublin.
The agreement is part of an international partnership to give young people the chance to work in Wayra's academies in Dublin, London, Munich, Madrid, Barcelona and Prague.
Wayra, part of O2 parent Telefonica, promotes talent by providing mentors, work space and the funding to help push firms to commercial operations.
