Jeff Bridges Releases Album Intended to Put Listeners to Sleep
If you fall asleep the first time you listen to a new album, that’s likely going to lead you to believe it’s pretty boring. With the release of his latest LP, Sleeping Tapes, however, Jeff Bridges wants you to fall asleep.
According to Rolling Stone, Bridges explained his inspiration for the album by stating, “The world is filled with too many restless people in need of rest—that’s why I filled my sleeping tapes with intriguing sounds, noises and other things to help you get a good night’s rest.”
On Sleeping Tapes, the actor/musician pairs his spoken word pieces and meditation techniques with ambient soundscapes meant to have a lulling effect. The album features tracks such as “Goodmorning, Sweetheart,” a quiet conversation between Bridges and his wife, Susan, complete with the sounds of breakfast cooking in the background.
Sleeping Tapes can be streamed for free now at DreamingWithJeff.com and also downloaded for a pay-what-you-want price. In addition to download sales, all proceeds from the limited edition cassette tapes and gold-colored vinyl versions of the album will go to the No Kid Hungry organization. Additionally, Bridges will donate the proceeds of five autographed copies of the album he plans to auction off.
