Prepare for the ultimate Super Bowl commercial showing none other than: an infuriated John Malkovich.
Wait, you’ve seen this before? In “Being John Malkovich?” Or when he’s Osbourne Cox in “Burn After Reading?”
No matter, the ad that Squarespace released Wednesday shows a familiar but hilarious Malkovich enraged about the URL “JohnMalkovich.com.”
Aside from on YouTube, you’ll see it on Feb. 5 when the Patriots take on the Falcons in Super Bowl LI.
Searching for an avenue for his new clothing line, he wants a custom URL.
Here’s how the humorous 77 seconds goes down:
“How is it that JohnMalkovich.com is taken?” a slightly annoyed Malkovich asks.
A female who seems to be a fashion designer or seamstress comes over and says, “Somebody already snatched it.”
“But I’m him,” Malkovich protests. “The collection is called John Malkovich. Mm-hmm , I really am him. There’s a film about me being me.”
The female asks, “Isn’t it a film about other people being inside you?”
“Sure, why not,” the actor says. “I need John Malkovich.com.”
Once the page loads, Malkovich discovers that his name has been lended to “the ultimate fishing website” — with a whopping 112 page views.
“What the f--k is going on?” Malkovich says in a rage. “How the f--k can you be John Malkovich?”
Lastly, Malkovich types a nice, friendly email to his fellow Malkovich:
“Dear Mr. Malkovich,” the actor types. “Guess who? What the f--k? What the f--k is going on? Also, John Malkovich.”
The final seconds show Malkovich hesitating to send the message.
“You know what, I’m just gonna call the guy.”
According to EW.com, Squarespace revealed that Malkovich’s pursuit of his URL is a true story!
